I attended the University of Alberta where I studied music and French. I taught band in middle school and French as a second language in British Columbia and Alberta.
I have created an innovative Adult Beginner music program that allows young adults to seniors to create music from the very first lesson. There had to be a faster and much easier way to teach adults popular music.
I developed my own unique method based on the shortcuts and strategies I picked up and adopted over the years in my own playing. SIMPLY JUST PLAYING FOR PLEASURE is the goal for many adults and I have created "a musical canvas" for adults to enjoy "the gift of music." This is music immersion at its finest.
I have had the opportunity to appear on numerous Television broadcasts across Canada such as CBC, Much Music, and many radio stations across the country talking about music innovation.
For people that have always wanted to play the piano or electronic keyboard for their own enjoyment and accomplish their dreams of making music, the EZee Piano Systems© is for them. Back to main page
My love of the piano began with my
grandmother playing “God Save the Queen”.
I started my formal training with the Royal Conservatory at the age of
7. I taught piano during my
college years. After obtaining my
Marketing Degree, I moved to Vancouver where I met my husband. Shortly after our two children were born we
moved to Kelowna where we have lived for over 20 years.
I spent many years working as an Activity Coordinator with seniors at local retirement resorts and found that I really enjoy the interaction. I have played professionally at dances, retirement resorts and the Kelowna Cancer Lodge for over 10 years. I was very excited to become a licensed teacher of the Ezee Piano Systems©. This gives me the opportunity to share my love of music with adults and seniors. A perfect combination!
Virginia Friesen: Cambridge Ontario
Virginia is excited to be the first teacher to offer EZee Piano Systems© in Southern Ontario. Prior to getting married and moving to Cambridge 3 years ago, Virginia worked at a private elementary school for 10 years. During her time there she was an EA for a special needs child, taught private piano and voice lessons, directed the Christmas Musical Productions, led small vocal groups, started and taught a grade 7 and 8 band program in the school. She
also has played piano in church for many years. Virginia brings a wide variety of teaching experiences with her that she believes will ensure her success at teaching EZee Piano Systems©.
Virginia has a Bachelor of Sacred Music Degree, Grade 8 Conservatory Piano, and a Certificate in Addiction Counselling. Virginia is passionate about all forms of music and the arts. She loves theater and for the last 2 years was part of a major Easter Production called “The Rock” at her church. She also loves people and volunteers each week at her local pregnancy center.
“Music is a language that speaks to the soul; soothing, calming, uplifting. What a great opportunity and gift to be able to access and learn piano as an adult.” Back to main page
Suseh Nievares: Burnaby B.C.
Suseh has a post-secondary degree at UBC receiving a B.A. with a Music major and a Theatre minor. Suseh began her music career at the age of 3 when her mom bought her a ukulele for her birthday. By the age of 4 under the tutelage of her mom, she was playing with proficiency. From this point on, it was obvious that music would be a major factor in her life. She began piano at the age of 6 and continued on to obtain her Gr 9 Royal Conservatory. She had begun Gr 10 when the call of the popular music scene drew her away. Over her school years, she participated in school choirs, theatre productions both as actor/singer and band player on drums, bass guitar, guitar or keyboards.
She moved to Vancouver at the age of 19 to pursue her musical dreams, taking the Recorded Music Production diploma at Trebas Recording Institute. She then pursued a post-secondary degree at UBC receiving a B.A. with a Music major and a Theatre minor. The majority of her time at UBC was spent with the Opera department as stage manager and stage technician at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. Ms. Nievares is currently the Music Pastor at Agape Life Center Church in Vancouver. She desires to pass on her passion for music to any and all who would want to pursue their dreams as she has.
Amanda Smiley: Vernon, B.C. Assistant National Director
Amanda grew up in Nelson BC where she was classically trained on the piano from the age of 5. At 16 she wrote her Grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music exams and from there she was off to the University of Victoria to obtain a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She continued studying and graduated from OUC (now UBC Okanagan) with an Education Degree and began her teaching career in Kelowna.
In 2008 she had her little boy and the family decided to move to Vernon where her husband works. Because raising her own family is important to Amanda, she decided to leave teaching school behind and has opened her own music studio from home.
Amanda is truly a music Entrepreneur "Even though I have taught MYC and because of the success of EZee Piano Systems© I am now exclusively teaching this program."
"The reason this system works so well is because it focuses on just getting the adult & senior students to play hands together from the 1st lesson. Students just enjoy the fact that they can actually play, and enjoy the fact that they can actually play something worth listening to.
The rest of it comes naturally and Paulette has designed the program in such a way that learning the basics is easy and fun for everyone including the teacher! Within a few weeks you can be playing for your friends and family and have a good laugh while all their jaws drop in amazement.
Joanna Hibberd: Duncan B.C.
Joanna completed her Piano Performer diploma with the Royal Conservatory of Toronto when she was 18.
After marriage and the birth of 3 children, she heard about the Music for Young Children® program and began teaching class piano lessons, pleased that she was able to use her musical education. She joined the Registered Music Teacher’s Association and was the secretary-treasurer for 15 years.
After 20 years of teaching private lessons, playing for churches, musicals, soloists, choir, weddings, and funerals, Joanna discovered the new EZee Piano Systems© program for adults and seniors.
“Most pianists spend a lot of time on their own, but sharing lessons with like minded students can be a lot of fun. I believe that people who have always wanted to take piano lessons will love this program.” Back to main page
